Astrolog 4.40
Author : Walter D. Pullen
Compiling : Abel Philippe
Here is an freeware astrology software really complete. I found his sources
on Internet (site ftp anonymous hilbert.maths.utas.edu.au but now, rather
go to ftp.magitech.com). The author diffuse versions for PC, MAC, UNIX.
I have compilated it with Pure C 1.1 in two versions :
- ASTROLOG.TTP for 68000 computers
- ASTRLG81.TTP for 68030 + 68881 computers
Contents :
--------
You must have all these files :
\ASTROLOG.440
ASTROLOG.TTP
ASTRLG81.TTP
READ_ME.ENG This help file
A_LIRE.FR The same thing in french
DESKICON.RSC Color and B/W icons for Astrolog
FILE_ID.DIZ
HELPFILE.440 The main helpfile
README.440
\AST
ASTROLOG.DAT Configuration file (text)
WALTER.AST A sample
\EPHEMER Directory for ephemeride files
CHI_24
LRZ5_24
\SOURCES Astrolog sources with Atari modifications
...
\TIMEZONE The CPX TIMEZONE
TIMEZONE.CPX To copy in the CPX folder
TIMEZONE.DOC Its doc
AUTO\
1COOKIE.PRG
(Note : For decrease transfert time, I surely make many archives : one
complete, one for 68000, one for 68030 + 68882, and one with only sources)
Install :
-------
You don't need the two version of Astrolog.
With a ressource editor, copy the icon in DESKICON.RSC onto your BOOT
partition.
Copy TIMEZONE.CPX in your AUTO folder (Like that, Astrolog will now your
time zone, and will be able to compute chart with the internal clock).
Read TIMEZONE.ENG for more precision.
Edit ASTROLOG.DAT (in the AST folder). In the beginning, you'll find :
-z0 1 ; Default Daylight time setting [0 standard, 1 daylight]
; En hiver remplacer par '-z0 0'
; En été remplacer par '-z0 1'
-z -1 ; Default time zone [hours before GMT ]
Set '-zo' option correctly. This setting does'nt affect computation,
but only the hour which will be displayed if you use the '-n' option.
Quick introduction :
------------------
Astrolog have a lot of functions. Let's discover main of them quickly.
But to go forward, I recommand you to read HELPFILE.440.
Begin by launching the program of your configuration.
In the command line, enter '-Q0'. Like that, you'll can enter many commands
without coming back to the desk.
As you can see, '-H' display the command list.
-v -o ast\essai.ast : computation and displaying of the object position.
Answer to questions about date, hour, and location. The objects position
is then displaying. By typping 'ENTER', you go back to line command. Now,
your birth date is save in the file 'AST\ESSAI.AST'.
-n -X : compute and display in graphic mode the current chart. Astrolog
use the internal clock. So, set it ! Astrolog use library BGI of Borland :
it is very slow but I am really happy to have this possibility !
-i essai.ast -X display your graphic chart (It is not useful to indicate
the AST folder : Astrolog find in it automatically). When the chart is
displayed, press 'L' (case sensitive) : that draw a world map with
Astro-Carto-Graphie (Jim LEWIS). Use arrow keys to display hidden parts.
To leave graphic mode, press 'Enter'.
I recommand you, if you want to test other functions, to save on disk
the command list with '-H -os com.txt', and '-HX -os com2.txt'. You'll
can like that printf 'com.txt' (general command) and 'com2.txt' (graphic
commands). But don't forget, read HELPFILE.440 !
Astrolog is actually at the version 5.0. As soon as I can, I'll take it,
and put it at Atari users disposition. In the same time, I'll bring
all the ephemeris file : with them, we can compute a chart on a period
of 8400 years !
